So I'm watching Wheel of Fortune right now and just...wow. It's teen best friends week. The subject of the particular puzzle was (I believe) "Phrase." The puzzle looks like this:

_AT FR_SH

The girls that are up need to buy a vowel. They buy an "E." The puzzle reads:

EAT FRESH

Completely filled in. Pat Sajak makes a joke along the lines of "well, you think you're gonna solve?" The girls say they will. He tells them to go ahead. They say:

"SUBWAY!"

A few seconds later they said "EAT FRESH!" and I get WHY they said Subway, but my God, have they never seen the show? You solve the puzzle! You'd think it'd be pretty easy when it's already solved for you, but I guess not.

If I remember correctly, the category was 'slogan', and they got some extra money if they could identify what the company was. They still should have solved the puzzle first, though...

I couldn't remember if it was slogan or phrase, but still... COME ON! All day yesterday, my brother and I just kept answering SUBWAY! to everything. I don't know why I find this so hilarious, but I can't stop laughing about it.

HAHAHA. I saw that. My mom and I figured it out before they did.

Wow, what does it say about me that after I saw "_AT FR_SH", I thought 'It's CAT FRESH!'

I... just, wow. :/

...Well, the slogan IS given in that format, so I guess it could possibly be a mental habit of saying it...

(Though, personally, I prefer 'Zombie! Eat Flesh!')

lol yeah my husband and i saw that, too... and we were thinking that if it was regular "adult" wheel of fortune they probably wouldn't have been allowed to win the puzzle... i've seen them say that people are wrong because the added an "s" to the end of a word or something... so to say the completely wrong word would have been a *fail*... :P

You are correct, they would not have been allowed to win the puzzle. I asked.

"...It's teen best friends week."

At which point I stopped reading and began laughing immediately.

Because next week they'll be fighting over something, become estranged, and find each other on classmates.com in 20 years.

I hate teen best friends week with a passion. This moment, however, made it all worth it.

that reminds me of the people on lingo who couldn't spell.

"RIFLE. R-I-F-E-L."

*snort*

Maybe they were thinking "What is Subway"?? /sarcasm

"I'd like to solve the puzzle! Three loins in the fountain!"
{buzz}

I find it stupid that they'd waste the money to buy the vowel when they could have just answered. It makes sense to keep spinning for consonants even if you've solved the puzzle to get more money, but why buy a vowel?

I remember watching that episode. I can't believe that the show let them have it! On regular weeks, if the person misses an S on the end of a word, they don't let them have it.
