...it's mocktacular!
Fun With Sirens
25th-Jan-2008 09:22 pm

A friend's sister really is that "dumb blond".  She's a nice person and his sister, so we try to keep the mocking to a minimum, but sometimes it's too hard.  One day while driving, the following took place.

Ambulance  comes up behind us, lights and sirens on.  The sister is driving and she slows down in the middle of the lane to about 15 miles an hour.  It doesn't take long before a chorus of  "pull over!"  "what are you doings?" fills the car.  Finally the ambulance has the opportunity to pull into the other lane and pass our car.

The rest of us are speechless but her brother finally says  "Why the hell did you slow down?"

To which she replies  "Can't they give tickets?"

All in favor of having her license revoked?

No, but I will personally give her one for stupidity.

and if a cop has seen her not getting out of the way, he could have.

My absolute favorite part of all of this is not that she does the wrong thing when there is an ambulance behind her, it's the fact that she thinks that a vehicle that has a sick, injured or DYING person inside of it would take the time to stop her and issue a ticket.

If I see flashing lights I assume it is life or death. Is it so freaking hard to get out of the damn way?

That's funny... I usually yell the same thing from inside the ambulance... lol (as long as I know no one can see to read my lips ;)

...i don't even understand the logic there.
27th-Jan-2008 01:42 am (UTC)
that would be because there IS no logic there *smile*

Please tell me you bitchslapped her, or at least that all of you set her straight. This is absolutely horrible.

Wow. She's really not helping the stereotype against blonds, is she? *shakes head* I'm surprised she's allowed to drive....

that first "paragraph" was painful to read.

I once witnessed a driver change lanes into and in front of a firetruck that was racing down the road with lights and sirens.

All I could do was yell in disbelief. The truck had to drive up his tailpipe before he moved back into the other lane.

Yet more support for my idea that DMV is focusing on all of the wrong things when testing people these days.

Here in Japan the ambulances have speakers asking drivers to please move out of the way. Maybe that would have made it more clear for her!

*smile* it is possible, but knowing her, unless they called out her name over the loud speaker, it probably wouldn't matter.

My thought is, even if it were a police car behind her, if it was already speeding down the road with sirens on, it was probably on its way to something too important to worry about pulling over some random girl for speeding. And if it had its lights on because it was after HER, slowing down isn't going to help much.

You are exactly right.. It's like all the people who slow down when a police car is pulled over in the middle of giving someone else a ticket. Like he's gonna jump back in his cruiser and come track you down for simple speeding.
