I found this picture on a Stephen King message board, The Green Mile. Why was it there? Well, the "la-las" from the Romance bbs were joking around with the "dark & gloomy people" on the SK board, posting cutsie images. Anyway, I thought this one was darned amusing. Look closely at the woman's right side.

It took me a few minutes but when I finally saw it I almost spat water on the computer screen. @_@ That's great.

AHHHH! 3 handed woman!! Or is she sitting on someone?

It took me a while to catch that, but when I did....shit thats hilarious!

Hahha. You'd think somebody would notice the woman has 3 hands..

That's actually a marketing tactic I've seen used in magazine ads. Your brain subconsiously picks up on something being wrong, but you can't place your finger on it instantly. Makes you remember the object in question, or so they say.

Still... that's typically for magazine ads, not book covers. *laughs*

well. it was a good book at least. i love dodd, she has an odd sense of humour in her books. i suspect that had to have been on purpose.

Maybe it's a twin she partially absorbed in the womb! Eww!

Forget the three hands! How many fingers does that guy have?

Hmm, three handed lady and forty fingered man, I think I need to read this book.

Oh dear god that's bizzare.

Guy whispering tenderly: "Lady, move, I'm trying to pull this woman out from underneath you!" XD
25th-Feb-2004 11:02 am (UTC) - pull this woman out
I was imagining the woman under her, the chick on top would be seated on her face. Is that what it looks like to you?

Guy whispering tenderly: "Lady, move, I'm trying to pull this woman out from underneath you!"

Her breathy response: "No, a minute more! She isn't done yet"

thought process: right. side. i don't see anything. oh, HER right. romance novels are funny. she's tragically collapsed in his arms. must be unconcious. and she's holding his hand. waaaiiit a sec. one, two, two! there's two twos! one, two threee!

that made my night.

Very interesting. If you cover the lower half of the "straight" arm that's resting at her side, the folds in the sleeves make it look like she's holding her arm bent at the elbow.

Perhaps the artist wasn't sure at one point if she wanted the arm up holding the knights hand or down against her and forgot to paint out the latter?

Don't look to the right, look on the *woman's* right hand side.
25th-Feb-2004 07:59 am (UTC)
it's so she can fly the helicopter while reloading, natch!
25th-Feb-2004 02:36 pm (UTC)
And in addition to all of that...

The castle's not even in the sky.
25th-Feb-2004 02:43 pm (UTC)
Ah, but the name of the book is Castles in the Air, and technically, everything's always in the air. :p
25th-Feb-2004 02:46 pm (UTC)

But then, logically speaking, should we really be assuming that the couple of sentients pictured are both human?
26th-Feb-2004 04:38 pm (UTC)
When I first saw the picture, that's what I thought.
27th-Feb-2004 03:27 am (UTC)
That was my first thought; but I kept looking, as I figured it had to be something else.
26th-Feb-2004 08:39 pm (UTC)
Not to mention there is only one castle.
27th-Feb-2004 03:27 am (UTC)
There's probably another castle under the woman's dress, between her five legs.

... I'm so showing this to my artist boyfriend to see how long it takes him to catch on.

This also deserves a mark on the WTF meter XD
29th-Feb-2004 03:26 pm (UTC)
She has a third arm! LOL
29th-Feb-2004 03:33 pm (UTC)
In all actuality I suppose since you all have three legs, a three armed woman would be a plus.
4th-Mar-2004 04:29 am (UTC)
She also has three legs. she is sitting with her left knee bent and her right leg stretched out and yet she also has her "other" left leg stretched out under her right leg. All three of her legs are terribly short for her also, very sad this poor poor woman.
What probably happened is the artist had her laying one way and they decided they did not like that pose down at the book company, now the artist was to busy or unwilling to fix it so they had some other artist try to fix it.

Good eye. I never even noticed that!
