a gem from back in sixth form

Well now, I was reminded of this from a conversation with my friend.

This happened about four years ago in sixth form. We were all either 17 or 18 at the time, an age when people should know better.

My science teacher was telling us about when he was working in Sudan, and how he got a disease, I think it was Dysentery (sp?), and that it was life threatening. He also mentioned that he was ill for ages.

At which point this boy piped up:

"Sir, did you die?"

What his response should have been.

"Yes, I did die. But, on the third day, I rose again, in fulfillment of the scriptures. In accordance to the writings of the Lord, I spread the word of God by teaching science. Would you like to see my stigmata?"

It's a necessity to make one's snappy answers to stupid questions as over-the-top as possible.
